Abstract
A number of research studies have provided preliminary evidence of a relationship between OCD symptoms, particularly “unacceptable thoughts” symptoms (e.g., intrusive violent or sexual thoughts), and suicidality. Given that these symptoms may include suicide- and self-harm-related obsessions, it is possible that measures of suicidality used in these studies (which have varied widely) have captured these obsessions in addition to “true” suicidal ideation. Because of this, we would like to determine whether the aforementioned relationships remain when controlling for suicide-related obsessions.
