Abstract
On the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante (1265–1321), this exhibition will explore the great poet and philosopher's influence on art and culture over the centuries. Curated by Prof Gervase Rosser, the exhibition will also coincide with a display at the Bodleian Library of illuminated manuscripts and printed editions of the Divine Comedy.It includes works by Botticelli, William Blake, Salvador Dali, Tom Phillips RA, Barrie Tullett, Geoff MacEwan, Monika Beisner, and new work by the world’s first AI artist, Ai-Da. It coincides with a display at the Bodleian Library of precious early editions of Dante’s most famous work.
