La garde d’enfants au Canada est essentielle pour soutenir l’emploi rémunéré des parents, en particulier les femmes qui effectuent la majorité du travail de garde d’enfants. Le présent article examine les caractéristiques et l’évolution de la population des petites garderies en milieu familial et de leurs exploitants qui sont omniprésents dans l’ensemble du Canada. Il comble une lacune dans les connaissances actuelles sur le marché des services de garde d’enfants au Canada en fournissant des renseignements sur les entrepreneurs qui exploitent un service de garde en milieu familial, sur leurs familles et sur leurs revenus.
