Abstract
Scandiatransplant er en nordisk organudvekslingsorganisation og omfatter en befolkning på 24,5 millioner indbyggere i fem lande, Danmark (5,4 millioner), Finland (5,2 millioner), Island (0,3 millioner), Norge (4,6 millioner) og Sverige (9,0 millioner) . Scandiatransplant omfatter idag et samarbejde med alle 12 nordiske transplantationcentre og de otte immunologi laboratorier. Ifølge vedtægterne er formålet med Scandiatransplant foreningen firedelt: (1) Scandiatransplant skal foretage udveksling af organer og væv mellem de deltagende transplantation centre; (2) Det skal operere en database og meddele oplysninger fra det; (3) Det skal bidrage til at fremme levering af menneskelige organer og væv til transplantation; (4) Det støtter videnskabelige aktiviteter. Medlemmerne af Scandiatransplant foreningen er hospitaler hver med et aktivt program for organtransplantation. Scandiatransplant er placeret på Universitetshospitalet Skejby i Århus, Danmark.
