Open access data available for the publication "Impact of Smoke Aerosol Loading on Lightning Characteristics of Pyrocumulonimbus Compared with other High-Based Thunderstorms". Lightning activity in British Columbia has been continuously monitored by Environment Canada's Canadian Lightning Detection Network (CLDN), part of the North America Lightning Detection Network (NALDN), and the data are accessed through a request to Vaisala Inc. These files include data sourced from Vaisala Inc. for each pyroCb, smoke-filled, and clean case analyzed in the study listed. Variables include lightning strike information including the date and time ("year", "month", "day", "hour", "minute"), the geographic location or latitude and longitude ("lat", "lon"), lightning peak current energy in kA ("peak-current"), lightning cloud-to-cloud (C) or cloud-to-ground (G) type ("C or G"), and lightning polarity of negative (-) or positive (+) current ("polarity").
