Résumé Parmi les multiples facettes du phénomène de rumeur figurent celles qui sont identifiées et sanctionnées par les normes nationales camerounaises. C’est le cas de la diffamation, des déclarations mensongères, de l’outrage et de la propagation des fausses nouvelles devenus monnaie courante dans les institutions publiques et en particulier au sein de l’institution scolaire où les enseignants sont généralement des cibles potentielles. En se plongeant en milieu scolaire privé de l’arrondissement de Yaoundé 4, le présent article entend dévoiler le paradoxe du principe légal selon lequel « nul n’est censé ignorer la loi ». Car, la grande majorité des élèves majeurs (18 ans) et parents qui font recours à ces pratiques dans les collèges évoluent en marge de leur encadrement et répression. D’où la nécessité d’intégrer dans le module de « Citoyenneté », les cours d’initiation à l’éducation et appropriation des normes nationales.
