Abstract
This thesis examines how the centralization of power within the Dominican Ministry of Women impacts gender equality efforts in the Dominican Republic. Despite notable institutional progress, the Ministry's lack of collaboration with other governmental bodies has hindered effective policy implementation. The study analyzes key gender issues, including gender-based violence, abortion laws, and economic inequality, and provides recommendations for a more interinstitutional approach to gender policy. The research argues that a decentralized strategy, coupled with an intersectional gender mainstreaming approach, would improve national efforts toward gender equality and sustainable development.
