Coproica rohaceki Carles-Tolrá, 1990 Figs. 234–243 Coproica rohaceki Carles-Tolrá, 1990 a: 37 [both sexes, phylogenetic notes, illustr.]. Type locality: Spain, Province Barcelona, Cabrils. HT male (CTB). Description. Body length 1.6–2.3 mm. Body dark brown, ventral portion of thorax orange-brown. Face and frons dark brown. Interfrontal bristles in 4 subequal pairs, postocellar bristles slightly convergent, with 2 pairs of small postocellar setulae. Gena brown with orange tinge; eye to gena ratio 1.8:1–2.0:1; patch of 6 small genal setae, anterior-most seta 2–3 times as long as posterior setae. Scutellum with approximately 25 discal setae between base and basal 2/3, with strong pair of medial discal bristles at 3/4; 4–5 lateral bristles between larger anterior and posterior marginal scutellar setae. Katepisternum with 2 dorsal bristles, anterior and posterior bristles approximately 1/3 and 1/2 as long as the distance between dorsal margin of katepisternum and wing base, respectively. Legs brown to light brown, fore coxa light brown. Mid tibia with strong proximal posterdorsal bristles at 2/5 and 1/2. Mid basitarsus with stout anterior bristles sub-basally and at 1/2 and 3/4, 2 sub-basal anteroventral bristles with proximal bristle shorter, a long posteroventral sub-basal bristle, and 2–4 small anteroventral and posteroventral bristles on distal half in variable arrangement. Second costal sector 1.0–1.5 times as long as third costal sector. Costal bypass short, terminating within 5 vein widths of R 4+5. Male terminalia: Posterior margin of sternite 5 with a small medial process and posteromedial patch of microtrichia, discal bristles uniform in size. Sternite 6 straight medially. Epandrium with enlarged pair of anterodorsal bristles; subanal plate incomplete; cercus with 1 large central bristle, ventral margin flat and straight. Surstylus trapezoid, with dense ventral row of short bristles. Postgonites anteriorly curved, with distinct posterior angle, broad except for narrow, pointed apical process. Basiphallus gently curved, tubular, open posteriorly dorsal to epiphallus; epiphallus with rounded crest. Lateral sclerites of distiphallus narrow, rounded dorsally; central sclerite pointed at apex. Membranes elongate, narrow, and bulbous ventrally, with rows of lightly sclerotized ridges and warts. Female terminalia: Tergite 8 separated dorsally, connected by a medial mebrane. Tergite 10 glabrous, orange, narrowly fused to cerci laterally; cerci orange, glabrous on anterior half, pollinose on posterior half, apical bristles short. Sternite 7 broader along anterior margin. Stenite 8 about 1/3 the width of sternite 7, posterior row of 4 or more small setae, anterior margin with small, rounded process. Stenite 10 with a pair of enlarged lateral bristles, lateral margins curved dorsally, posterior margin pointed and not curved dorsally. Spermathecae spherical; duct length 1–2 times as long as spermathecal bulb. Type material. Holotype male: SPAIN: Barcelona, Cabrils, 14.iv.1982, on cow dung, M. Carles-Tolrá (♂, CTB, not examined). Paratypes: SPAIN: Barcelona, Cardedeu, 5.i.1983 on cow dung, leg, M. Carles-Tolrá (1♂ *, examined); Barcelona, Cabrils, 8.iv.1982, on sheep dung, leg, M. Carles-Tolrá (1♀, examined). Other material examined. See Appendix A. Distribution: Neotropical: Argentina, Brazil, Chile; Oriental: Japan (Okinawa), Taiwan; Palaearctic: Andorra, Canary Is. (Spain), Cyprus, Italy, Japan, Malta, Norway, Spain (incl. Balearic Is.). Comments. Coproica rohaceki is here newly recorded from the New World, based on specimens from Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Coproica rohaceki can be distinguished from other Coproica by the combination of a short anterior and long posterior katepisternal bristle (Fig. 5) and a quadrate surstylus (Fig. 235) or glabrous female cerci and tergite 10 (Fig. 240). Identifications were confirmed through comparison of dissected New World specimens to dissected paratypes and specimens from the Canary Islands.
