Ordre RODENTIA Bowdich, 1821 REMARQUES Des restes dentaires du Castoridae Steneofiber depereti ont été trouvés sur l’ensemble des sites étudiés (Mayet 1908; Ginsburg 2000). En général, les spécimens correspondent à des dents isolées ou des fragments de mâchoires (Fig. 26). Toutes les dents jugales sont sub-hypsodontes à hypsodontes, développant des racines complètes et fermées avec l’âge (Lechner & Böhme 2022). Sur le site « Les Pavés » un crâne presque complet de ce Castoridae a été signalé (Fig. 26A). Sa morphologie générale trapue et oblongue, associée à un profil aplati, permet de l’attribuer au matériel d’Artenay (France) ou encore d’Hammerschmiede (Allemagne) (Lechner & Böhme 2022). Une molaire usée de Sciuridae a été examinée durant la campagne de visites de collections (Fig. 26). Cette molaire inférieure se caractérise par sa grande taille (4,5 × 3,7 mm) et la faible hauteur de la couronne. L’hypoconide n’est pas usé à la différence des autres cuspides et un petit mésoconide est visible entre le protoconide et l’hypoconide. La dépression entre le mésostylide et l’entoconide est très profonde et bien marquée par l’usure dentaire. À cause de son état d’usure avancé et le manque d’autres spécimens, nous rattachons de façon provisoire cette molaire à l’écureuil géant Dehmisciurus obtusidens (Dehm, 1950) grâce à ses grandes dimensions. Cette espèce est rare dans le registre fossile, connue dans six localités au total, avec peu de matériel (Bosma et al. 2018). Cependant, il semblerait que le spécimen de Tavers soit encore plus grand que Dehmisciurus obtusidens.
