Abstract
Construite en 1854 à Sainte-Marthe de Vaudreuil, cette maison de bois se distingue par son architecture en pièce sur pièce à assemblage à queue d'aronde. Les pièces de bois de pin qui la composent sont disposées les unes sur les autres. Leurs extrémités sont taillées d'encoches arquées correspondant au quart de leur épaisseur. Ce type de construction est largement répandu au Québec même jusqu'au milieu du XXe siècle. Le toit à larmiers est recouvert de bardeaux de cèdre. Au tournant du siècle, la famille occupant cette maison comptait 12 enfants qui couchaient tous à l'étage. Au rez-de-chaussée, une chambre était réservée aux parents. Les cloisons ont été enlevées à ce niveau et un escalier permet d'accéder à l'étage. La maison était chauffée avec un poêle à bois.
