Abstract
The book is a collection of 13 scientific articles presenting the problems of the weathering zone of anhydrite rocks and gypsum on the example of their exposures in western Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Canada and Russia. Majority articles is devoted to unusual forms of relief and caves that are rare in the world today as a result of a local increase in the volume of weathering rocks. Such forms (described in this book) are hydration domes and caves currently developing in anhydrites in Piski near Lviv (on Ukraine), as well as in Dingwall, Canada, and the so-called gypsum tumuli - in gypsum, near Sorbas in Spain. The book deals with various geomorphological, hydrogeological, microclimatic, petrographic, speleological, as well as those related to the threats of active karst development. The articles stayed written in Polish, Ukrainian and English by 17 scientists from Poland, Ukraine and Germany.
