Abstract
A scoping review of existing navigation services for adult (aged 40 or more) cancer patients in Europe, Canada and the United States: an overview of existing navigation programs for cancer patients, outcome measures of those programs (effectiveness or sustainability), their regulatory context, potential barriers and opportunities for the involvement of navigators at different levels with examples of successful navigation approaches. Definition of Patient Navigation used for this scoping review: Patient navigation is defined as a time-limited intervention designed to help patients overcome logistic and individual barriers that they experience while using healthcare services (Wells et al., 2022). Interventions can be launched on the whole continuum of care, from education on health risks, through screening, diagnosis and treatment, to rehabilitation, survivorship care and end-of-life care (Freeman, 2012).
