Abstract
Roger Neilson House (RNH) opened in 2006 to deliver paediatric palliative care services for the Ottawa region. Since the inception of RNH, community interest in palliative care has grown and there has been a significant increase in the programs offered to children and families, particularly in the area of grief services. A few examples of the growth include perinatal hospice program, grandparent group, and sibling services. The social work team has grown from one to four social workers and, recently, psychology has been added to support group services and spiritual care professionals can be consulted when indicated. The increased needs of families, program growth and workload pressures are the key factors driving the requirement to review current grief services. This scoping review will identify assessment measures and evidence-informed approaches to working with bereaved children, youth, and adults.
