Abstract
the presence and diffusion of Warburgian studies in Canada are concentrated around the figure of Raymond Klibansky (1905-2005), who attended the Warburg-Kreis from 1926 when Ernst Cassirer introduced him to the circle. The German philosopher and art historian in fact elected Montréal as his permanent residence in 1948, when he became Frothingham Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at the Department of Philosophy of McGill University. In recent years, there has been an increase in studies devoted to the figure of Klibansky, in particular with respect to the relationship with the Warburg legacy, conducted at some universities in Montreal, in collaboration with important city institutions. The present contribution illustrates the publications, the international workshops and the events that have fueled, and continue to do so, the research on Klibansky and his relationship with the Warburg heritage.
