Abstract
Matemática e Literatura, porque não? A ideia de associar a Matemática à Literatura, não sendo nova, é contudo pouco discutida e, menos ainda, concreti- zada em Portugal. Escrever sobre Matemática, para crianças e de modo ficciona- do, implica, em primeiro lugar, considerar que esta área do conhecimento pode ser um tema interessante para desenvolver. Em segundo lugar, é imprescindível que os autores tenham uma certa proximidade com esta área do saber, facto que envolve a posse de um conjunto mínimo de conhecimentos sobre os quais se vai ficcionar. Os problemas que existem no nosso país com a aprendizagem da Ma- temática, a imagem social que a disciplina ainda tem e uma certa visão da Litera- tura e da Matemática como áreas opostas têm contribuído para que a ficção de autores portugueses, nesta área, seja diminuta. Ainda assim, vale a pena destacar alguns livros, como Figuras figuronas, de Maria Alberta Menéres, e O pequeno livro de desmatemática, de Manuel Pina. Enquanto o primeiro livro fala da poesia que é possível encontrar nas formas geométricas, o segundo mostra, de forma divertida, a Matemática nos números e nas operações.
