Abstract

The data for this project cover every new vehicle sold in the United States between 2014 and 2020, including their attributes (price, fuel economy, etc.), and the demographics of vehicle owners as of the second quarter of 2021 (education, income, urban/rural status). Because of data use agreements, the raw data are unavailable, but supplementary information (EPA fuel economy data for each vehicle, IRS data on federal EV incentives, etc.) as well as some highly processed data (aggregated demographic observations for buyers of EVs and ICEs) are included.<br><br>This file also contains the code to clean and analyze the data for "Has Consumer Acceptance of Electric Vehicles Been Increasing? Evidence from Microdata on Every New Vehicle Sale in the United States."
