Abstract
This paper explores the feasibility of using soft electromagnetic actuators incorporating ferrofluids as the primary mechanism for generating tactile feedback in wearable haptic interfaces. The distinctive feature of this research is the utilization of ferrofluid as a dynamic, adaptable medium, manipulated by electromagnetic fields to simulate tactile sensations. Preliminary experiments assessthe feasibility, construction, and performance of these actuators, focusing on their capacity to provide controlled vibrations at desired frequencies and amplitudes. Results indicate that the actuator gives a total displacement of 1mm during vibration. The actuator provides a steady amplitude with cutoff occurring at 30Hz.
