Abstract

The BRITE satellites were designed at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Students, Space Flight Laboratory (SFL), and based upon its Generic Nanosatellite Bus. This 20 cm cube, 7 kg nanosatellite platform with an advanced attitude control system was developed to meet the challenging requirements of the BRITE mission and also served as the platform for 7 other satellite missions at SFL. This talk will outline the capabilities of the satellites, followed by challenges and solutions found during orbit operations. It will conclude by exploring the current satellite platforms at SFL and what they can offer to future astronomy missions.
