El INVIMA recibió una alerta sobre la revisión de Health Canada que asociaba la ezetimiba con daño hepático inducido por medicamentos y reacciones cutáneas graves, como síndrome de Stevens-Johnson y necrólisis epidérmica tóxica. Estas reacciones, aunque raras, fueron evaluadas por agencias como la FDA. El INVIMA inició una investigación, manteniendo que el fármaco sigue siendo seguro y efectivo para sus indicaciones aprobadas en hipercolesterolemia y otros trastornos lipídicos.
