Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In order to meet the requirements of an archaeological condition on the planning permission for the construction of a new tennis courts, together with associated car park and access road, on land adjacent to Ashridge Farm, Ashwell Street, Ashwell, Herts, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the developer to monitor the groundworks for the development. The site lies within Area of Archaeological Significance no.142 which covers the medieval village of Ashwell, and cropmarks of possible prehistoric features in the surrounding area. A number of such cropmarks are located close to the study area. Ashwell Street immediately to the north may also date to the Roman period. The present groundworks, which involved a vegetation strip of the entire site and further reduction of the western side of the proposed tennis courts, did not breach the overburden and no archaeological features, deposits or finds were encountered. Any potential underlying archaeological features remain in situ.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
