Abstract
This paper will seek to fill this gap by investigating how the missionary process established in Acadia, which impact had on the natives, and its overall results. It will also try to assess the degree to which the missionary strategies were affected by the Anglo-French dispute over this territory, a theme which, besides an out-of-date monography (reference to Micheline Dumont Johnson,Apôtres ou agitateurs: La France missionnaire en Acadie, Trois-Rivières, Le Boréal Express, 1970), has been relegated to a peripheral position. The timeframe of this present analysis will strecth from 1610, the arrival’s year of the first missionary, until 1710, when Port-Royal was conquered by the British.
