Totals exclude those who died or were disabled; and those who left school to serve in the armed forces or serve on some other official mission (eg, Peace Corps, church mission). The data are use to calculate the graduation rate. This dataset covers graduation rates at colleges and universities in the United States. Statistics refer to the percent of students who completed their degrees within 150% of normal time since first enrollment. Normal time to completion is typically 4 years (8 semesters or trimesters, or 12 quarters, excluding summer terms) for a bachelor's degree in a standard term-based institution; and 2 years (4 semesters or trimesters, or 6 quarters, excluding summer terms) for an associate's degree in a standard term-based institution; and the various scheduled times for certificate programs. Data for students seeking a degree/certificate other than a bachelor's degree are also included for four-year institutions. Data are from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) conducted by the NCES. IPEDS involves annual institution-level data collections. The test score data presented here are from the Admissions and Test Scores component of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a web-based data collection system, conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics. SAT and ACT scores are reported for institutions that require test scores for admission. These data are applicable for institutions that do not have an open admissions policy for entering first-time students. Together with admissions and enrollment data, the data provide information about the undergraduate selection process for entering first-time, degree/certificate-seeking students. All postsecondary institutions that participate in or are applicants for participation in any federal programs providing financial assistance to students are required to report data using the IPEDS. More than 7,500 institutions complete IPEDS surveys each year. These include research universities, state colleges and universities, private religious and liberal arts colleges, for-profit institutions, community and technical colleges, non-degree-granting institutions (eg, beauty colleges), and others.
