Data-Planet™ Statistical Datasets by Conquest Systems, Inc. Dataset-ID: 004-001-001 Dataset: Crude oil is a mixture of hydrocarbons that exists in liquid phase in natural underground reservoirs and remains liquid at atmospheric pressure after passing through surface separating facilities. The price for a one-time open market transaction for immediate delivery of a specific quantity of product at a specific location where the commodity is purchased "on the spot" at current market rates. NOTE: As of 2011, the EIA is no longer publishing this dataset. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) obtains this data from Reuters Ltd. Weekly, monthly, and annual prices are calculated by EIA from daily data by taking an unweighted average of the daily closing spot prices for a given product over the specified time period. An alternative to the futures price, the spot market price reflects an immediate delivery price.
