Abstract
In 1967 richtte Arend Datema de Historische Kring Kesteren en Omstreken (HKKO) op, wat leidde tot vele ontdekkingen in Rivierenland. In de jaren ’70 vonden HKKO-leden zonder officieel archeologisch toezicht tal van Romeinse graven tijdens bouwactiviteiten in Kesteren, waaronder bij de Prinsenhof. Dit leidde tot de ontdekking van 112 graven, waarvan 42 door HKKO en 70 door archeologische professionals werden geborgen. Na decennia onuitgewerkte vondsten, heeft een werkgroep van vijf personen in 2021 de heranalyse en documentatie gestart, met een focus op militaire kenmerken en paardenbegravingen. Dit onderzoek zal gedetailleerde publicaties opleveren in de komende jaren.
