Cette étude vise à examiner les facteurs de risque et les circonstances menant aux décès prématurés de femmes québécoises suivant une maladie cardiovasculaire (MCV), à différents stades reproductifs. Quarante-sept rapports provenant du Bureau du Coroner du Québec ont servi de source empirique. Le processus d’analyse de données est inspiré du modèle conceptuel de Fawcett et Ellenbecker. La manière dont les femmes perçoivent leurs risques de MCV et comment les soignant(e)s les ont pris en charge, lors de leur visite à l’urgence, sont également examinés. Les résultats démontrent la présence de biais implicites et de préjugés chez le personnel médical ainsi qu’une forte tendance à la consommation de médicaments psychotropes chez les femmes décédées. Des recommandations sont émises et une grille est proposée comme outil supplémentaire de dépistage des facteurs de risque de MCV chez les femmes. Leur mise en pratique clinique cible autant les étudiant(e)s infirmier(ère)s que les infirmier(ère)s.
