Abstract
Résumé : Le présent article met en exergue les antécédents historiques de la naissance du mouvement indigéniste en Amérique Latine. À cet effet, il met en évidence son organisation et les faiblesses qui ont contribuées à son échec dans l’intégration des peuples indigènes dans la société latino-américaine. Cet échec se laisse voir à travers le réveil indien acté par la montée en puissance de l’indianisme. Un mouvement animé et organisé par les indiens eux-mêmes. Tout le contraire de l’indigénisme qui rend invisible les indiens dans les sphères de décision et d’action parce que dirigé par des peuples non indiens. Néanmoins, il est important de souligner que les contradictions et polémiques suscitées par l’indigénisme ont favorisé la prise de conscience des indiens et hâté leur réveil dans la lutte pour l’amélioration de leur condition de vie et d’existence.
