En 1624, tuvo lugar el Sevilla uno de los autos de fe más destacados del primer cuarto del siglo XVII, motivado por la noticia de la existencia de un foco de "alumbrados" que hizo que el inquisidor general Andrés Pacheco despachara el correspondiente Edicto de Gracia, publicado en la catedral el tercer día de Pascua del Espíritu Santo de 1623. Su pormenorizada descripción nos permite conocer todos los elementos característicos de esta particular expresión del ceremonial barroco. In 1624, one of the most outstanding autos de fe of the first quarter of the 17th century took place in Seville, motivated by the news of the existence of a group of "alumbrados", which led the Inquisitor General Andrés Pacheco to issue the corresponding Edict of Grace, published in the cathedral on the third day of Easter of the Holy Spirit in 1623. Its detailed description allows us to get to know all the characteristic elements of this particular expression of Baroque ceremonial.
