Abstract
This is a document describing and discussing all aspects of the historic environment (Conservation areas, Listed Buildings, Ancient Monuments and archaeological sites) in relation to the development proposal at the above location. The National Planning Policy Framework calls for the optimum viable use of the building which is compatible with its preservation. In this case the changes which are being sought are an enlargement of the cinema to increase its profitability. The changes that are proposed are an extension to the rear which is largely hidden from the public realm by the presence of other buildings. It involves the demolition of ancillary spaces which are at odds with the architectural design being plain utilitarian structures. Thus the changes are less than substantial and outweighed by the benefits of allowing the building to remain a cinema.
