Abstract
Die Ratsprotokolle im Offenburger Stadtarchiv beginnen 1595, oder sollte man sagen, sie enden hier? Möchte man etwas über die Ereignisse in der Stadt aus früherer Zeit erfahren, muss man auf verstreut vorhandene Quellen zurückgreifen. Die meisten befinden sich im Generallandesarchiv in Karlsruhe und in den Archives de la ville et de l’Eurométropole de Strasbourg. Bis heute sind längst nicht alle Archivalien erschlossen. Ein in Straßburg vorliegender Schriftwechsel, der von Wissenschaftlern der Universität Toronto in den Jahren 2005 bis 2015 transkribiert, ins Englische übersetzt und veröffentlicht wurde, erlaubt uns einen Einblick in Ereignisse während der Zeit der Reformation, die auch Offenburg betreffen. Es geht um einen Kirchenraub, durchgeführt von Chorherren des Stifts St. Thomas in Straßburg.
