Abstract
El presente artículo analiza la evidencia de validez basada en la estructura interna y la confiabilidad del Índice de Esperanza de Herth de 12 reactivos en una muestra de 1255 habitantes de la ciudad de Arequipa (46.3% hombres y 53.7% mujeres), ubicada al sur de Perú. Se pusieron a prueba cinco modelos mediante análisis factorial confirmatorio y en base a los resultados, se realizaron comparaciones en función del sexo y la edad. Los resultados sugieren una estructura bifactorial similar a la reportada una muestra de Lima. Asimismo, no se registraron diferencias en función del sexo, aunque sí con respecto a la edad en la dimensión de agencias, pero dados los resultados de baja confiabilidad en esta dimensión, se sugiere tomar estos resultados con cautela.
