Abstract
Transcript of life history interview with 'Owen' from Cohort B (born 1945-1954) of the Life Histories and Social Change collection; Male, Protestant Church of Ireland, married and a father. Owen was born into a farming family in the Midlands region and he recalls a busy life working on the farm, starting in childhood. He inherited the family farm and moved into the family home with his new wife, while his mother continued to live nearby. Owen describes the strong community networks that exist in his area and his involvement in various farming and social groups including the IFA and Macra na Feirme. He talks about changes in agricultural practices in Ireland following Ireland's membership of the EU. All names have been anonymised. Access to the transcript is through application to the Irish Qualitative Data Archive and is restricted to bona fide researchers and teachers, and to students that are currently registered at a third-level academic institution.
