Abstract
This thesis is an analysis of an archival dataset consisting of a large sample of men who committed at least one sexual offense and were then assessed at a large Canadian sexual behaviour clinic. The dataset includes each offender’s entire criminal history based on official criminal records, as well as assessment data from the sexual behaviour clinic. The clinic data consists of demographic data, each offenders phallometric assessment (a physiological measure that assesses sexual arousal to stimuli that vary by sex and sexual development), victim information, and data from a sexual history interview. The purpose of this study is to explore the offending trajectories of adult onset sex offenders, an understudied population of sexual offenders, and to determine whether certain offending trajectories are associated with certain offence characteristics and a sexual interest in children.
