Abstract
"The Santa Rita Settlement." A pamphlet published by the National Catholic War Council, 804 Higgins Building, Los Angeles, California, USA, circa 1920. The settlement was established on 1920 February 22 and blessed by Bishop Cantwell. Its purpose was to provide community services to a poor neighborhood, with a majority of Mexican population. The pamphlet details its history, purpose and services (medical, sports clubs, education). It also includes photographs of the settlement and the people it served. There are also several anecdotes of the people who lived in the neighborhood. Delia Hutchinson (Delia Josefina Davoust) is listed as the District Worker for the organization and is depicted several times thoughout the pamphlet. The pamphlet is in fair condition. The text block is in good condition but the cover has completely detached.
