Abstract
This dataset is a subset of the North American Land Change Monitoring System (NALCMS) Land Cover 30-meter dataset. The original dataset provides land cover information for 2010 (Mexico to Canada) and 2011 (United States) and is a collaboration between the USGS in the United States, the CCRS in Canada, and CONABIO, INEGI, and CONAFOR in Mexico. The dataset archived here clips NALCMS land cover to the state of Alaska and adjacent regions for the State of Alaska Salmon and People (SASAP) project. Several steps were taken to preprocess this data: Alaska boundaries were manually selected and clipped to the nearest pixel to avoid resampling and degrading raster data, and this clipped data was reprojected in the Alaska Albers (EPSG 3338) projection. This dataset is a more size-efficient version of NALCMS data for use in SASAP study areas.
