Abstract
Ordre CROCODYLIA Gmelin, 1789 REMARQUES Les crocodiliens sont représentés par Diplocynodon cf. ungeri (Prangner, 1845). Le dentaire gauche du site « Les Pavés» (Fig. 24) montre les dents 3 et 4 logées dans le même alvéole dentaire (double canine), paramètre principal du genre Diplocynodon. La position et la taille relatives des alvéoles de la série dentaire paraissent conformes à celles des dentaires de Bézian à La Romieu dans le Gers (MN 4) et Artenay, attribués à l’espèce styriacus in Ginsburg & Bulot (1997). En 1974, L. Ginsburg signale une dent de Diplocynodon styriacus (Hofmann, 1885) sur le site « Le Bardon» puis réattribué à Diplocynodon cf. ungeri (Prangner, 1845) (Martin & Gross 2011). Ce spécimen n’a pas été retrouvé en collection. Il existe quelques spécimens (plaques dermiques et fragment d’un angulaire) de diplocynodontidé conservés dans les collections du MMSL (Annexe 1), pouvant eux-aussi être raccrochés à Diplocynodon cf. ungeri. Le genre Diplocynodon, présent du Paléocène au Pliocène d’Europe (Martin et al. 2014), se distingue de genres nord-américains, également eusuchiens Alligatoroidea Gray, 1844 à double canine, par des proportions différentes de la mandibule et du crâne.
