Abstract
Vaastu is a Sanskrit word meaning “ the science of structures.”It is a traditional theory of architecture’’ that guides the design and construction of buildings in harmony with natural laws of nature. Vaastu is an ancient science of building construction that originated in India during Vedic period. It was developed by our ancestors based on scientific principles , but everytime it has come to be viewed as superstition. This article attempts to emphasize the foundations of climatology and astronomy within the principles of Vaastu Shastra. Vaastu primarily concerns orientation of building in relation to sun path and wind directions. The principles of Vaastu have a mythological background but my focus here is to validate their foundation in climatology.
