Abstract
In response to a condition on the planning permission for a new dwelling at 24 Shephall Green, Stevenage the Heritage Network was commissioned by Michael Wager to undertake the archaeological monitoring of the development groundworks. Footings for the new building were excavated through a layer of overburden and into the natural friable clay. A section of a northeast to southwest aligned medieval ditch was encountered within the northern footings trenches. A single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered from its fill. No further archaeological features, deposits, or artefacts predating the modern period were encountered during the work.
