Abstract

L’objectif de cet article est de saisir les orientations de valeur (OV) véhiculées par les programmes dans leur dynamique. Un nouveau programme d’éducation physique et à la santé a été introduit en 2003 au Québec pour répondre aux nouvelles attentes de la société dans la formation des élèves. Nous avons mené une analyse de contenu en cinq étapes (L’Écuyer, 1988 ) afin d’identifier et de comparer les OV véhiculées dans ce nouveau texte et dans l’ancien programme de 1981. Cette analyse a permis de dénombrer puis de quantifier en terme de fréquence d’unités de signification les OV dominantes. Les résultats révèlent des différences significatives. La maîtrise de la discipline domine dans le programme de 1981 alors que c’est la responsabilisation sociale qui prévaut dans celui de 2003. Nous discutons les effets sur les finalités de l’éducation physique (ÉP) au Québec d’une approche par compétences dans la rédaction des programmes.
