Conceptual Examination Of Green Roofing Potential For Commercial Developments In Cambridge, Ontario
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This project took both a conceptual and modeling approach to measuring the impacts of extensive green roofs on select commercial developments in Cambridge, ON, Canada. The methodologies used to illuminate the impacts were (1) literature review, (2) the specific geographic context of Cambridge, and (3) the use of the Green Roof Energy Calculator. Two contrasting scenarios of different growing medium of 6.35cms and 10.16cms were inputted into the model, resulting in minimal monetary savings of approximately $130/annum but large avoided kWh usage of between 1500-1800 kWhs/annum. Furthermore, the model showed that the green roofing scenarios pulled in additional heat from the urban environment, reducing the urban heat island effect. Additionally, both green roof scenarios were modeled at retaining between 45-49% of the annual precipitation which greatly reduces the flow of contaminants from the urban surface to waterways. Therefore, green roofs may further sustainable development efforts and should be further explored for the Cambridge context.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
