Detta är en presentation på svenska av Bernard Assiniwis senaste bok, <i>La saga des Béothuks. </i>Boken gavs ut på franska år 1996 innan den översattes till engelska år 1997. Assiniwis stil är karakteristisk för genren "roman autochtone" som har betydelse i Québec. Assiniwi använder fiktion för att förmedla Beothuks historia som var ett försvunnen folk i Newfoundland i Kanada. Presentationen ger en inblick i fältet native studies och genomfördes i ramen av ett seminarium i romansk litteratur vid Stockholms universitet.
