Abstract
Op 5 april kregen leden van de Utrechtse ArcheoHotspot en geïnteresseerde AWN’ers een exclusieve voorbezichtiging van een deels opgegraven middeleeuwse rivierpraam, genaamd ‘Vleuten 3’. Deze negende-eeuwse vondst werd ontdekt tijdens de aanleg van de Vikingrijn in het Máximapark. De rivierpraam is deels opgegraven en toont kenmerken zoals brede planken met spanten en een opstaande kim. Dendrochronologisch onderzoek wijst op lokaal hout voor de kadepalen en hout uit het Duitse Rijnland voor de scheepsbalken. Op de opgraving werd ook een groot eikenhouten spant gevonden, mogelijk van een Vikingschip. Verdere onderzoeken zullen plaatsvinden na augustus 2019 vanwege broedende steenuilen.
