Abstract

Adolescent use of mobile health applications has increased significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, adolescents experienced declines in various health behaviours such as physical activity, and may have had reduced access to health care, community services and programs. These changes contribute to unhealthy behaviours that negatively impact their overall quality of life, affecting areas such as self-esteem, anxiety, depression, sleep and diet quality, blood pressure and substance use. This leads us to propose the development and implementation of TeenACCELERATION, a national eHealth platform aimed at empowering diverse Canadian teenagers to improve their health and well-being, with an emphasis on physical activity engagement.
