Abstract
Introduction : Il existe relativement peu de données sur l’encadrement du circuit des médicaments vétérinaires en recherche et en soins en établissement de santé. Objectifs : L’objectif de cet article est de présenter une revue du cadre juridique et normatif, tant fédéral que québécois, applicable à la gestion des médicaments vétérinaires en établissement de santé et de proposer une mise à jour du circuit des médicaments vétérinaires au centre de recherche du CHU Sainte-Justine. Méthode : Il s’agit d’une revue documentaire couplée à une évaluation du circuit du médicament et à l’identification de changements de pratique. Résultats : Le cadre juridique entourant la gestion des médicaments est similaire chez les humains et les animaux, bien que plusieurs particularités vétérinaires existent. La démarche menée a permis d’identifier 17 changements de pratique entourant le circuit du médicament vétérinaire au CHU Sainte-Justine. Les médicaments vétérinaires sont dorénavant pris en charge par le département de pharmacie et une politique et procédure a été élaborée pour soutenir cette prise en charge. Conclusion : Cet article présente un profil du cadre juridique et normatif et décrit une démarche de mise à niveau de ce circuit au CHU Sainte-Justine.
