Abstract
Les travailleurs étrangers temporaires (TET) peuvent jouer un rôle durable dans l’atténuation des pénuries de main-d’œuvre au Canada. En effet, le tiers des titulaires d’un permis de travail ont fait la transition vers la résidence permanente dans les cinq ans suivant l’obtention de leur premier permis de travail. Toutefois, ce ne sont pas tous les TET qui continuent de travailler au sein de leur industrie initiale d’emploi après avoir obtenu la résidence permanente. Cet article propose une analyse exhaustive du maintien en emploi des TET, au sein de leur industrie d’emploi initiale, après qu’ils ont obtenu le statut de résident permanent. Elle est fondée sur un examen de la situation de tous les TET qui occupaient un emploi rémunéré au Canada en vertu d’un permis de travail.
