Abstract
Many dermatologists feel inadequately trained to diagnose and treat dermatological diseases in skin of color (SOC).<sup> - </sup> This may in part be due to the underrepresentation of SOC in dermatology medical education. Between 1996 and 2005, only 2% of teaching events at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meetings focused on SOC dermatoses, and dark skin images composed only around 11% of the images found in seven key dermatology textbooks.<sup> </sup>
