Abstract
L'article analitza l'impacte del procés d'urbanització contemporani sobre la masia, una de les formes més destacades i característiques del poblament rural a Catalunya. Aquest impacte ha transformat de manera radical les funcions i la rellevància de la masia com a unitat de producció, espai de convivència i instrument per a la gestió del territori. El treball es divideix en tres apartats: en el primer es descriuen els orígens de la crisi de les formes tradicionals de poblament a Catalunya; en el segon s'analitzen les relacions entre aquesta crisi i la reivindicació -etnològica, patrimonial, política- de la masia catalana a partir de primer terç del segle xx; finalment,s'exposenels resultats principals de l'impacte del procés d'urbanització sobre la masia
