eVolv2k-ENS: an ensemble reconstruction of volcanic stratospheric sulfur injection and stratospheric aerosol optical depth
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Project: Ice core-based volcanic forcing reconstruction for the past 2000 years - Radiative forcing resulting from stratospheric aerosols produced by major volcanic eruptions is a dominant driver of climate variability in the Earth's past. The ability of climate model simulations to accurately recreate past climate is tied directly to the accuracy of the volcanic forcing timeseries used in the simulations. The eVovl2k project aims to produce new and improved volcanic forcing reconstructions, based on newly updated ice core composites from Antarctica and Greenland. Ice core records are translated into stratospheric aerosol properties for use in climate models through the Easy Volcanic Aerosol (EVA) module, which provides an analytic representation of volcanic stratospheric aerosol forcing based on available observations and aerosol model results, prescribing the aerosol's radiative properties and primary modes of spatial and temporal variability. Summary: This database contains 1000 realizations of volcanic stratospheric sulfur injection and stratospheric aerosol optical depth, based on the eVolv2k_v3 reconstruction (https://doi.org/10.26050/WDCC/eVolv2k_v3), incorporating estimated uncertainties in sulfur injection magnitude and eruption timing.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
