Abstract
Mountain rites: about rites done for sacred mountains. The investigator asked for a narrative about the festival known in Chinese as 转山节 (about which F16 had already recorded a narrative). She chose to tell about all festivals involving mountains in the course of an entire year. Note: as a whole, the recording session conducted that day emphasized modern topics, modern tools, techniques and technology, and the vocabulary that came with them. This encouraged the consultant to use Chinese borrowings more lavishly than under previous circumstances, when the emphasis was on the old ways and the old ways.
