Abstract
By agreement with the National Research Council of Canada, Alberta is committed to using the National Building Code of Canada as its base document with changes and modifications to suit Alberta’s needs in regulating the design, construction, alteration, change of use and demolition of buildings. The National Building Code – 2019 Alberta Edition (NBC(AE)) was established by the Building Sub-Council of the Safety Codes Council, after consultation with municipal authorities, provincial government departments, associations, other affected parties and Code users. The Code is published for Alberta by the National Research Council of Canada. This edition of the NBC(AE) succeeds the 2014 edition of the Alberta Building Code.
