Abstract
El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar el caso clínico de un canino con malformaciones congénitas y proponer alternativas de tratamiento. En el Hospital Escuela de la Facultad de Agronomía y Veterinaria, Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto se atendió una cachorra Labrador, de tres meses de edad con hemimelia longitudinal paraxial bilateral de radio y polimelia humeral, anomalías congénitas poco reportadas en caninos. Las radiografías revelaron la ausencia parcial de huesos y presencia de deformaciones articulares en las regiones del codo y carpo. El diagnóstico permitió evaluar posibles tratamientos como vendaje inmovilizante, cirugía para alineación o, en caso extremo, amputación del miembro afectado para mejorar el desplazamiento del paciente. En conclusión, las alteraciones esqueléticas son muy variables, cuando se diagnostica una malformación congénita de los miembros, como en este caso, es importante promover el conocimiento de las anomalías y su clasificación, lo que establece un diagnóstico preciso, |mediante la descripción del hallazgo clínico y radiológico. Este proceso es crucial para establecer el tratamiento y seguimiento del paciente, ya que proporciona al médico veterinario alternativas tempranas de resolución.
